Photograph
Photograph is the term used to refer to the reproduction of an image onto paper, glass, metal, etc. Although most photographs are produced with cameras, they can also be made through Kirlian photography techniques or Cyanotype methods. Whether or not a camera is used, a photographer must treat his medium with a series of chemical and then expose it to light. Only after this process will the image appear on the medium.
While early photographers rendered photographs on metal, photographers today print photos on paper or store them on computers. Using JPEG or PNG files, people can send and receive photographic images over the computer.
Another revolution in the history of photographs revolves around the movement from merely black and white into the world of color. Although color photographs are today’s standard, photographers still use black and white prints to lend their images a certain tone and effect.
Photographs can have any variety of subjects, ranging from landscapes to nature to portraits to fashion models. The specific subject a photographer chooses for his photos depends on the theme of his shots. Photographs are a vital part of modern society: not only do they permeate advertisements and television, but they are also central the way we learn about our environment and learn about our history.
