"canon 7d and lens compatibility"

Hi,

I'm just about to buy a canon d7 - I'm a film and tv student, hoping to learn photography too..

I recently discovered that my dad is cooler than I'd given him credit for when I found a bunch of old canon cameras/ lenses. They all seem to be in perfect condition BUT I'm wondering if these 20 year old lenses will fit onto my new canon?

No, they won't. The newer lenses are completely different from the older ones. If they have an EF, or and EF-S they will, otherwise, no.
