One of my friends cats just had kittens about a month ago, and they just opened their eyes, do i leave the flash off or do i keep it on for better lighting? I don’t want to damage their vision.

As with all animals i take pictures of, i say leave the flash off. Put it in manual mode or Aperture priority mode just to make sure it doesn\’t pop up. Yes i see what you\’re saying with the lighting, but i suggest getting as much ambient (natural) light as possible. Try taking photos of them with a window to the side of them or behind you.

It may damage their vision as some flashes are extremely bright, so just leave it off.

If you have a flash that you can change the angle of, then I would point it straight up or even off to the side or behind you. If not, I agree with the other poster, leave it off and just make sure that there is enough light from another source.
