Indoor Sports

I have a Nikon D5100 and take pictures of my kids school sports (basketball, cheerleading) which is indoors. I use a 70-300 zoom lens but my pics come out blurred because the gym does not provide enough light. I have played with the iso settings with no luck. Any advice on how I can take better sport pictures in this type of environment? Thanks!

I presume flash is not going to work, either. Your options are limited; the 70-300mm is just not a very bright lens.

With ISO as high as you can stand the grain, I would try the brute-force method: Enable burst mode (where the shutter keeps firing as long as you hold the shutter button down). Fire away and pick the best shots when you get home. Sounds crude, but that’s what pro sports photographers do.
