I\’m really out of the swim on this one. I have no idea what was meant by layout, especially as the question involved how many were wanted. In all of my years in the field, I\’ve never heard the question asked. I\’ve heard newspaper and magazine, even web masters, refer to layouts. I\’ve never heard of its usage in this context. Is it a recent coinage?

I think what the photographer is referring to is how you want to stand or pose in the studio/setting. Like maybe if you’re outside, you and your friend could be laying beside eachother on the grass, and since you want it creative, maybe you could do different poses, and add in some creative facial expression. Hope it helps :)
