Hi, my last two posts didn\’t show up, and i now know why – I had links in them, which blocked the answers.. which is very stupid -.-
So here it is without direct links, put in the http and www and you will be fine with them.
Hi, I\\’m going to just ask you weather you have an external flash or not.
If you have an external flash, such as the Canon 580EX II, or 430EX II, then the best thing to do, would be to use some kind of diffuser shoved on it.
I\\’ve found and bought an AMAZING kit from amazon.co.uk, which is Called the \\”Interfit Stobies Portrait Kit\\” It has 6 attachments for external flashes, 1x Beauty Dish, 1x Globe Diffuser, 1x Softbox ( White ), 1x Barndoor set, 1x Snoot, 1x Honeycomb, for pretty much every single effect you could think of in a portrait, or product photography.
The only thing is, you have to buy a rubber flex mount (for a very little price) to fit the flash you have so that some of the attachments can fit on.
If you don\\’t have an external flash, however.. then i recommend you get one, if you\\’re serious in portrait photography. Get one which has a flex mount for that flash by Interfit, so that you can buy the Portrait kit as well, as it is absolutely amazing and a must have accessory for the external flash.
If you don\\’t have a few hundred £ to spend, however.. then i recommend you use the pop-up flash, try getting something like a filter paper for cigarettes or some white tissue paper, and stick it somehow over the pop up flash to act as a diffuser, and stand a few feet back so that it is not too harsh. Also, set your camera to it\\’s \\”Flash\\” white balance setting, which will allow the camera to expose the image properly.
I hope this helps, and I do recommend the external flash, but if you want to just do portraits in an enclosed area, such as a studio/home or home-made studio, then I would also recommend a quite cheap studio flash, it doesn\\’t have to be extremely powerful, but something like the one linked below, which comes with an umbrella as well as the Light stand and Studio flash head itself.
