Hi, I can relate to this as i do quite a lot of low light photography, in indoor events.

The best thing to do for a disco, is to ask people if you can borrow a speedflash. If you have any photographer friends, i\’m sure they will have one as it is so useful for indoor and low light photography, as well as weddings.

The best settings to try without an external speedflash, or with one would be to put the camera in full automatic mode, change the aperture to the widest you can for your camera (smallest F number) and try to get the shutter speed as high as possible, to capture the fast moving subjects, dancing.

I hope this helps, and good luck. The best way to get good is to practice! So just keep playing around with the settings and you will soon get it.

hi, as you’re not shooting with a dSLR, lighting is going to be a huge problem. one of the few ways you can get around the ugly fill flash that paints white faces is to use a technique called ‘slow synchro’ on some cameras. what it is is basically taking a photo at a slower shutter speed (1/20th or slower) but still using a flash. you get a sharp image from the flash, but you still get ambient lights from the rest of the exposure.

thats an example of the majority of the photos that will come out.

and thats an example of best case scenario with direct flash hahaa

hope this helps.
